Synopsis |
Each of us has the ability
to achieve great things in life and the capacity to think of the far greater
things that life has to offer. Our minds, like the wings of the eagle,
are capable of soaring to great heights of excellence. The truth is that
most people are anxious to improve their circumstances, yet are unwilling
to improve themselves. As a result, they remain stagnant! |

Leadership
in a Voluntary Organization |
Concurrent
Session I
Speaker |
Mr. Dunstan
Chan |
Date |
3rd June,
2002 |
Time |
1330 - 1500 |
Seminar
Synopsis |
Imagine this scenario: The
boss of ABC company looks sternly at his salesman, “Mr. Yeo, you have not
been able to meet the sales target for this month, and the month before
that, and the month before that. I’ll give you one more month. If you don’t
buck up I’ll have to ship you out.”
Well, as leaders of a voluntary
organization, we don’t have that luxury of firing and hiring. The leaders
of a voluntary organization have to work with whatever people we have,
people who have willingly, and sometimes not so willingly, given time and
effort to help out in the organization. It demands special leadership skill
to get all these volunteers to pull together towards a common goal. Though
there is no fear of being fired to motivate the members, they are potentially
more dedicated than employees of a company. They are driven by their love
of the cause.
In this seminar we will discuss:
· What are the qualities
expected of a leader
· What are the different
styles of leadership
· How to match the
most appropriate style to a given situation.
· How to build the
“super team” |
