What is the Swinging Malaysian Golf Group About?

 

The Swinging Malaysian Golf Group was formed in 1996 by Richard Ng, Ronnie Chang and C.K. Wong all of whom reside in Wellington, New Zealand. The main purpose of this group is to bring Malaysian golfers together each month to have a friendly and competitive game of golf, and also to foster closer ties amongst the Malaysian community in Wellington, New Zealand. However, the Swinging Malaysian Golf Group's membership is not limited to Malaysians, but also to friends of Malaysians in Wellington. The 1997/98 season will commence in November 1997. The first game will be held out of Wellington.

ALL VISITORS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN! 

    The following are details of how to become a member of the Swinging Malaysian Golf Group and rules that apply: 

    Joining Details:
     

    • Subscription fee of $50.00 (Used for buying prizes for each round, for the overall winners at the end of the 10th round and administration costs where necessary; 
    • Complete the following entry form
    • In addition to the subscription fee, participants are expected to take care of their own green fees; 
    • Be a competent golfer - maximum of 36 handicap for men and understands golf rules and etiquette; 
    • Participating members will be responsible for the conduct of their guests; 
    • Guests are not eligible to participate in the overall competition, but may participate in the monthly competition provided they contribute $5.00 towards the monthly prize pool. 

    Rules:
     

    • The organising committee reserves the right to make adjustment to your declared handicap where the committee feels that your standard of play is better than handicap declared at application; 
    • At the end of each round, the organising committee will adjust your official handicap where appropriate; 
    • All participants are required to mark and sign their respective score cards for handing in to the organising committee for determining winners and adjusting handicaps; 
    • The format of the overall competition is nett based on handicap; 
    • The organising committee will decide on the monthly game format (for the purpose of monthly competition) in order to "spice up" the monthly get together; 
    • Only participating members who have paid their $50.00 subscription will be eligible to participate in the overall competition; 
    • Participants must be dressed according to the dress standard of the club played in; 
    • Guests of participating members will need to contribute $5.00 towards prizes for the rounds they play in; 
    • Local club rules applies at all times;and 
    • Where disputes arise, the organising committee's decision is final 

    Format:
     

    • There will be 10 games (over 10 months) for the season. 
    • Overall winners will be decided based on the best 5 of the 10 rounds (nett score) played by each participant. 
    • The best 6 players will receive prizes to a certain value determined by the organising committee. 
    • The organising committee will decide on the format of the monthly game. This will add variations and hopefully interests in the game of golf. 
    • There will also be prizes for winners of each of the 10 rounds of golf played. 

        

    The overall winners after 10 games (best of 5 rounds) in the 1996/97 season were:

    They each received prizes to value from $15.00 to $160.00.
