MILLENNIUM  YEAR  DINNER
 
The Malaysian Red Crescent Millennium Year Dinner  was successfully held on 12th March 2000 at one of the leading hotels in Kuching. The function was highlighted by the presentation of the Life Membership Certificates and  special medals for the delegation of  54 new Life Members by the Ketua Menteri of Sarawak, with the attendance of 600 dinner participants. The memorable event was the personal enrollment by YAB Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.)  Haji Abdul Taib Bin Mahmud and his wife, YA Bahagia Datuk Amar  Hajjah Laila Taib as Life Members of MRCS that evening.

Speaking as the MRCS Sarawak Branch Millennium Year Dinner, the Chief Minister said that in meeting the challenge of the millennium, voluntary organizations such as the Red Crescent would be required to play a greater role in meeting humanitarian needs. He urges the MRCS to step up efforts in rendering its services to the needs in the State and also to equip its members with appropriate knowledge.
