Fund Raising

Red Crescent members throughout the Chapters had over the years, come rain or shine, devoted their time to walk the streets in seeking public donation through our flag sale effort. Other fund raising activities include charity joggerthon, jumble sales, premier shows, charity bonanza, and many other innovative fund raising initiatives.Committees a nd volunteers have had hard times planning and implementing fund raising projects, approaching local dignitaries, philanthropist, corporate bodies and well wishers to solicit for funds and sponsorships. These efforts, large or small, point to the fact that each and everyone of you have a caring heart, without which, the Society would be immobile and render ineffective for the cause of humanity.

Public Donation Towards The North Korea Famine Fund

The Democratic People's People Republic of Korea was experiencing one disaster after another since 1995, creating chronic food shortages that place the people to the brink of mass starvation. The cumulative effects of food shortages are taking their toll on people who are gradually growing weaker. Affected most severely are the children who have never had enough to eat in their short lives. Moved by the posters of two malnourished North Korean Children and our Society being a humanitarian organisation, launched a State wide appeal for public donations to save the starving children. The appeal under the name of the Sall (the Korean word for rice) had touched the hearts of many Malaysians to an extend nobody expected. Sarawak Branch was able to raise a sum of RM 306,636 which was sent to the International Federation of the Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies in Geneva to purchase food for the children in an attempt to avoid the impending mass starvation.
