A Brief History of Damai Jaycees The birth of Damai Jaycees can be attributed to a group of enterprising and dynamic young men, who back in the 80s believed in the importance of perpetrating the ideals of the Jaycees Movement. The Protem Committee was formed in 1987 with JCI Senator Councilor Tay Hong Ming as its Protem Chairman. In April 1988, the Chapter, which was sponsored by Junior Chamber Sarikei, was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies. In September 1989, the Chapter was finally affiliated to Junior Chamber Malaysia, and with this affiliation confirmed yet another successful extension programme of Junior Chamber Malaysia.

 

Projects organised by Damai Jaycees

• Area Sarawak Sports Carnival - 1988. This Programme was initiated by our Chapter in Sarawak.
• Anti-Dadah Run - 1989.
• Triathlon cum Sea Sport Carnival - 1990. This was the first Triathlon ever held in Sarawak.
• The 17th Junior Chamber Malaysia Annual National Convention - 1992. Damai Jaycees was one of the youngest Chapter ever to host a national convention. It was attended by a record breaking over 300 Jaycees members.
• Healthy Baby Contest - 1993.
• Chinese Art Exhibition by Professor Wu Xiu from China and To Puan Tan Tsao Sui Lan from Singapore - 1993.
• "Help your Child To be a Winner Seminar - 1994. Attended by over 300 participants.
• New Year Eve Party for Less Fortunate Children - 1996.
• Area Sarawak LOMs Meeting - 1997, attended by over 170 Jaycees from throughout Sarawak.
